Register for ESFPA's 2024 Regional Meetings

ESFPA will be hosting 4 more Regional Meetings across NY State this fall. Each meeting will be $30 to attend, and registration is required. To register, please call Dorian Johnson at (518) 463-1297 ext. 224. Attendance will be worth 1/4 NYLT continuing education credit.

The upcoming schedule of meetings is as follows:

Ellicottville - Wednesday, September 18th - Holiday Valley - 6pm-9pm

  • 6pm-7pm- Social hour 
  • 7pm-9pm- Dinner and presentations. We will be joined by David Nye, a Technology-to-Market Advisor at the US Department of Energy. He will be speaking about the use of wood-based products in buildings and potential new markets. VestigeView will also be joining us to give a brief presentation on their comprehensive Camera & GPS solution. Vestige works exclusively with the Logging/Forestry industry to provide better visibility to improve safety and control, enhance performance, increase productivity, and improve peace of mind that your trucks and drivers are protected. ESFPA Executive Director John Bartow will also have a brief update on the Association and priority policy that we are working on. 

Ithaca - Thursday, September 19th - Hotel Ithaca - 6pm-9pm

  • 6pm-7pm- Social hour 
  • 7pm-9pm- Dinner and presentations. We will be joined by Julie Suarez and Rich Stup from Cornell College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). Julie and Rich will share with us efforts at CALS to work with the forest and wood products sector. Rich will share some of his experiences in agriculture which may also apply to forestry workforce issues. VestigeView will also be joining us to give a brief presentation on their comprehensive Camera & GPS solution. Acra - Wednesday, September 25th - Agroforestry Center - 4pm-7pm

  • 4pm-5pm- Join us for a tour of Siuslaw Model Forest. Siuslaw is a 142-acre NYC watershed demonstration forest owned and managed by CCE Columbia Greene. On this tour, we will explore active and passive demonstrations including a patch clear cut, deer exclosures, understory cropping demonstrations and an active shiitake laying yard with mushrooms grown on wood sourced from our timber stand improvement cuts. See our continuous forest inventory plots and hear how we use our data to develop forest management plans and implement those plans through service-learning opportunities with a variety of audiences.
  • 5pm-7pm- Dinner and networking at the Agroforestry Center. ESFPA Executive Director John Bartow will also have a brief update on the Association and priority policy that we are working on. 

Saranac Lake - Wednesday, October 2nd - Paul Smith’s Visitor Interpretive Center (VIC) - 6pm-9pm

  • 6pm-7pm- Social hour
  • 7pm-9pm- Dinner catered by the Paul Smiths culinary students then brief remarks from Paul Smiths President Dr. Dan Kelting.  ESFPA Executive Director John Bartow will also have a brief update on the Association and priority policy that we are working on.
